I began my apprenticeship in Centralia, Washington at The Original Mt. St. Helen’s Ash Glassworks in 1991.  I have since worked in five different studios over the years before creating my own, Peter Zimmerman Designs in Glass.  In the time I have devoted, I have explored working from a furnace with a blowpipe or solid rod, traditional soda glass lamp work and kiln forming.

My work with glass is born in an interest of the color, richness of detail and physical grace one can get in a piece of glass.  I am also quite driven by the dexterity, skill and challenge required to use glass to achieve those results.  Equal parts science, athletic achievement and imaginative discovery; glass for me is a way to develop and understand my relationships with the world we live in and those around me.
